When Shopping For Used Rigid Inflatable Boats Look Carefully At The Hull
And The Tubes

When shopping for used rigid inflatable boats you need to examine the hull and the tube set carefully.

  • is the tube-hull joint still secure, look for peeling away of the attaching material on glue-ons, look for damage to the bolt rope system on mechanical attachment systems.
  • on fiberglass hulls look carefully for soft spots, patches, cracks in gel coat, signs of water getting into transom area. Are through hulls sealed or showing signs of leaking?
  • on aluminum hulls look for impact damage, cracking in welds and joints due to fatigue.
  • on plastic hulls look for physical damage.
  • check carefully inside all storage boxes, floor hatches and access points. Look for repair work, cracks, water staining etc.
